After the fall of the Berlin Wall, playwright Doug Wright began a series of interviews with Charlotte von Mahlsdorf, an elegant and eccentric 65-year-old transvestite (born Lothar Berfelde), who lived openly as a woman during the regimes of Nazi and Communist Germany. Charlotte was devoted to collecting antiques, and she turned her life-long passion into a museum, where she regaled visitors with her startling tales of survival. But is Charlotte telling the truth?
