Mike Funt (Clown 1)
Mike is a clown, actor and director based in Los Angeles. Mike is an executive board member of internationally-touring LA clown troupe, Four Clowns, through which he appears regularly around the country in his two-person shows with his clown partner, Julia Davis. Four Clowns work includes That Beautiful Laugh (Performer), Sublimity (Asst. Director), and Somewhere Like Earth (Writer/Performer). Favorite past performances include his original slapstick comedy show Jackson-Lafitte: A Vaudeville, Pantalone and Capitano in various Commedia performances, and shows with award-winning clown troupe Ten West. As a director, Mike has created many shows, including Servant of Two Masters, a stage adaptation of the 1971 film Cold Turkey and his own translation of Moliere’s The Imaginary Invalid. He has taught at iO West, iO in Chicago, the San Francisco Comedy College and the Georgia Governor’s Honors Program. He has trained in clown internationally and is currently an instructor at The Clown School in Hollywood.
Emily Goss (Annabella Schmidt, Pamela, Margaret)
Emily is overjoyed to be working with this team on The 39 Steps. She received her BA in Theatre from the USC School of Dramatic Arts and her MA in Classical Acting from the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art. LA theatre credits include White Marriage at The Odyssey Theatre Ensemble and the critically-acclaimed west-coast premiere of Stupid F**king Bird at The Theatre @ Boston Court (Nina U/S). Film credits include Rolling Romance (Best in Show, The Indie Fest; Best Original Screenplay, Malibu Film Festival), and the upcoming features PAINTING ANNA, THE HOUSE ON PINE STREET and AMERICAN BRED. Dieterich, a long-time Chicagoan, now resides in sunny Hollywood, California. Derek Manson (Hannay)
Derek tours regularly with the acclaimed musical comedy The Bicycle Men. Recent stops on the tour include the Denver Center for the Performing Arts, Geva Theatre Center, iOWest, and the UP Comedy Club in Chicago. He’s appeared on the Second City Hollywood stage in Quick & Dirty, Fun and Other Traumatic Events and the news satire show Second City This Week. LA stage credits include the LA Weekly nominated Room Service with the Open Fist, Making Paradise with Cornerstone Theater, and The Bewildered Herd at Greenway Court. Regional stage credits include James and the Giant Peach with South Coast Repertory, Arcadia and Picasso at the Lapin Agile with the Alliance Theatre in Atlanta, and Amadeus with the Sacramento Theatre Company. As a vocalist, Derek has appeared in several editions of the For The Record concert series at Rockwell Table & Stage and in the rock musical The Existents.
